TRASTUZUMAB EMTANSINE 100 mg (Ujvira) is a prescription targeted anticancer medicine used to treat HER2-positive breast cancer. It is an antibody-drug conjugate that combines trastuzumab, a monoclonal antibody, with the chemotherapy medicine DM1, also known as emtansine. It delivers chemotherapy directly to HER2-positive cancer cells, helping improve treatment effectiveness while reducing exposure to healthy cells. It is administered as an intravenous (IV) infusion under the supervision of an oncologist.

Trastuzumab emtansine 100 mg works by binding to the HER2 protein on the surface of cancer cells through its trastuzumab component. Once attached, the medicine is absorbed into the cancer cell, where DM1 is released. DM1 disrupts the cell’s microtubules, preventing cell division and causing cancer-cell death while helping limit its effects on normal cells.
