This combination contains dolutegravir, an integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI), and lamivudine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, which are nucleoside and nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). Dolutegravir blocks the HIV integrase enzyme, while lamivudine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate inhibit the reverse transcriptase enzyme needed for viral replication. Together, these medicines stop HIV from multiplying, reduce the viral load, and help protect the immune system.
