How Does TENOFOVIR/LAMIVUDINE/EFAVIRENZ Work?

Tenofovir, lamivudine, and efavirenz work together to block HIV replication. Tenofovir and lamivudine are nucleoside and nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors that prevent the virus from copying its genetic material. Efavirenz is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor that binds to the same enzyme at a different site and further disrupts viral replication. Together, these medicines reduce the amount of HIV in the body and help protect the immune system.
