This combination contains dolutegravir, an integrase strand transfer inhibitor, and emtricitabine and tenofovir alafenamide, which are nucleoside and nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Dolutegravir blocks the HIV integrase enzyme, while emtricitabine and tenofovir alafenamide prevent the virus from copying its genetic material. Together, these medicines stop HIV from multiplying, reduce the viral load, and help protect the immune system.
